Laura Freeman at the Learned Owl Book Shop (Nov 25)
Hudson's annual Home for the Holidays event is Saturday, November 25th. Join us at The Learned Owl Book Shop from 1 to 3 p.m. to meet Laura Freeman, Record Publishing reporter and author. Her latest historical romance is "Impending Love and Capture". She will be signing it and her earlier books in the series, including "Impending Love and War", "Impending Love and Death", and "Impending Love and Lies". All of the books in the series take place during the period of the Civil War.
"Impending Love and Capture" begins on the battlefield of Gettysburg, where Jessica Beecher is caring for those wounded at Culp's Hill. She is captured by Confederate Major Morgan Mackinnon, who needs her wagon and nursing skills as the rebel wounded flee from the battlefield during the night. When she overhears Lee's plans, Mackinnon realizes he can't let her leave.
Ms. Freeman graduated from Stow High School and Kent State University and now resides in Cuyahoga Falls. She has won the Press Club of Cleveland's Ohio Excellence in Journalism award twice and the Ohio Newspaper Assocation award several times. She is currently working on the final two books in the series, "Impending Love and Madness", which begins on the day of President Lincoln's assassination, and "Impending Love and Promise", set in 1866. Each of her books can be read independently and has a slice of history forming the background for each romance.
