Kate says: An unlikely trio of friends each dealing with loss in their own way. Equal parts heartbreaking and uplifting. Kate DiCamillo has a true gift.
Kate says: So much fun! Realistic teen fiction at its finest. Believable, funny, and right on target. Maxwell Cobb has always been just Max until he receives an invitation from The Chaos Club, an underground organization that has been pulling pranks at Ashville High School for over 30 years. The hilarious yet vindictive prank war that ensues changes the people involved in ways they never could have imagined. Can't wait to see what Kurt Dinan will do next.
Kate says: Tragic, heartbreaking, and eye-opening - Ruta Sepetys brings to light the deadliest disaster in maritime history in Salt to the Sea. Not to be missed. This is young adult historical fiction at its finest.
Kate says: I'm a sucker for a good Pride and Prejudice retelling and this one definitely fits the bill. Pure entertainment!
Kate says: A captivating debut, Los Alamos in a whole new light, and a woman who never loses sight of her true self: Elizabeth J. Church's The Atomic Weight of Love has it all. Meridian is a character equal parts infuriating and admirable, and I enjoyed every moment shared with her.
Kate says: A detective under investigation for double homicide, an abused teen to protect, an innocent convict just out of prison, corrupt lawmen, and a reverend, what more could you ask for? On top of it all, a heart-pounding, keep-you-up-all-night reading pace. Redemption Road by John Hart is all this and so much more. A first-rate thriller well worth the wait!
Kate says: Herman and Henry are best friends, however they like very different things. When their camping trip doesn't go exactly as planned Herman jumps into action. Filled with fun illustrations and lift the flap postcards, this is a must for any first camping trip!
Kate says: Fun way to learn the names for groups of animals. Illustrations are fantastic!
Kate says: Sweet brother sister story. Great illustrations!
