Alex and Nelson Demille at the Hudson Library

New York Times bestselling author Nelson DeMille, and his son, award-winning screenwriter Alex DeMille, will discuss their novel, The Deserter at the Hudson Library. Loosely inspired by the Bowe Bergdahl scandal, their blistering new thriller features a brilliant and unorthodox Army investigator, his sharp but troubling new partner and their hunt for the Army's most notorious--and dangerous--deserter hiding out in Caracas, Venezuela.

Nelson DeMille is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of twenty one novels, including his most recent bestseller, The Cuban Affair. Two of his novels, Mayday and Word of Honor, were made into TV movies, and The General’s Daughter was made into a major motion picture starring John Travolta and Madeleine Stowe.

Alex DeMille is a writer, director, and film editor. His films and screenplays have won multiple awards and fellowships, including his film The Absence, which was awarded Best Film at Comic-Con in 2012. He has edited numerous commercials, shorts, and independent feature films, among them My Nephew Emmett, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short in 2018.
