Sara Coast, of North Olmsted, will be at The Learned Owl Book Shop on Saturday, September 9th, from 1 to 3 p.m. with her first book "What You Don't Know Will Hurt You". The book is a mystery about Sheriff Jake Mason and super agent Grace Cooper. She is a strong woman with whom Jake becomes smitten, and her loyalties are put to the test when a mystery of international intrigue explodes in sleepy Caswell Bay, Maine.
Ms. Coast is a jewelry maker who honed her craft at the Cleveland Institute of Art, creating a line of jewelry based on the circus, a joyous memory of her childhood growing up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the home of P. T. Barnum. Her memories of her father's favorite sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, and summer trips to Maine with her family inspired her to write the book.
Ruth Kim, a Hudson resident for over 30 years, will also be at The Learned Owl September 9th, from 1 to 3 p.m.Hers is a return engagement to talk with folks about her memoir "One Penny On Top of Another: A Korean Immigrant's Journey from Poverty to Wealth". One reviewer wrote "When we picture a woman writing a memoir recounting her life journey, many of us might picture a wrinkled grey-haired weary soul who lives in the past. Ruth Kim is not such a person. Instead she is a tiny and beautiful bundle of energy who sparkles with life and excitement about tomorrow....In an era when many Americans whine about their disadvantages, Ruth shows the best way to start life: with adult models who work hard and value learning and thrift." Another wrote "...Our children would do well to read Ruth's story."
