The ten year long Trojan War was waged over Helen, the beautiful wife of King Menelaus of Sparta, who had run off with Paris, a prince of Troy. This story has been a source of artistic inspiration for more than two thousand years. Strauss draws on revolutionary new archeological. linguistic, and cultural findings to give a fresher, more accurate, and more controversial picture than ever before of the Greeks and the Trojans, and the conflict between them.
