Kate Schlademan started working at a small university book store just out of college. After this, she went on to work at various Borders locations for 7 years managing all aspects of daily store operations along with traveling as a trainer. She took a short break from the book industry and mostly cured her travel bug by teaching English in South Korea for 5 years. Upon returning to the States, she was hired at the Learned Owl where she soon became the events coordinator and manager. She went on the buy The Learned Owl in 2013 and has never looked back.
